This year, we were proud to sponsor the F.O.L.K.S. Jack Lewis Watershed Stewardship Scholarship, supporting local students who share a passion for preserving the beauty and health of Lake Keowee. Seeing these young leaders dedicate themselves to environmental stewardship reminds us that community care takes many forms — from protecting our natural resources to helping families find safe, stable homes.
That same spirit of service is at the heart of our partnership with Oconee County Habitat for Humanity, where Melanie serves as Honorary Chairman. In 2025, the annual Taste of the South gala raised enough funds to build four homes for four deserving families — and through the generosity of our community, we surpassed our goal to fund a fifth home.
During the event, Melanie shared a powerful reflection on what inspired her passion for housing:
“When I started selling real estate more years ago than I’d like to admit, it didn’t take long to see the difference between the streets you felt comfortable showing on and those you didn’t. I promised myself I would never put anyone in a home I wouldn’t live in myself. But the truth is, there are families right here in our community living in conditions no one should have to endure. Habitat for Humanity changes that story — one home, one family, one act of kindness at a time.”
With each home built, Habitat for Humanity provides more than shelter — it offers stability, dignity, and hope. Together, we’re not just helping families find homes; we’re helping build a community where everyone has a place to belong.
Bringing Holiday Cheer to Local Families
Our commitment to the community shines just as bright during the festive season. Every holiday season, Melanie hosts an annual Pictures with Santa event that is completely free to the public. It has become one of our favorite traditions—giving local families a chance to capture magical holiday memories, share in the festive spirit, and experience the true joy of the season together.
